Upcoming Workshops
My monthly painting workshops are centered around gathering inspiration from nature and encouraging the artist within you to not be afraid to create. My workshop formats rotate between plein air painting (primarily in the summer months), step-by-step instruction for a painting theme, and guided connections to nature through observational sketchbook journaling.
I prefer working with smaller local businesses such as family farms or small restaurants for these events, and I love collaborating with other local artists to host combined workshops.
I’d love to hear from you if you have an event space, want to book a private event, or are a local business or artist who would want to collaborate on future offerings!
Watercolor in the Wild: Plein Air Painting in the Washougal River Valley
Join Arin and Susan for a morning connecting art and nature in the heart of the beautiful Washougal River Valley! Guided by artists Susan ElizabethFronckowiak & Arin Rae, this experience invites you to slow down, connect with nature, and express your creativity through plein air watercolor painting. No experience necessary!
The morning will begin with a 30-minute guided nature connection, followed by an observational sketchbook journaling exercise that will teach you how to observe your surroundings like an artist and how to focus on the colors, shapes and textures that bring your sketches to life. You'll then be invited to paint from your own inspiration on the land.
A limited palette of watercolors and paper will be provided at the event, but you are encouraged to bring your favorite painting supplies as well.

Autumn Watercolor Sketching at Bella Organic Farm
Come unleash your creativity surrounded by the scenes of fall: a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and the scents of apple cider and carmel apples from the nearby courtyard. Whether you're a seasoned artist or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone who loves art and a cozy fall day.
I'll teach you how to paint a beautiful pumpkin patch landscape with watercolors! We will warm up by exploring our autumn color palette and painting some pumpkins, and then I will show you step-by-step how to paint a watercolor landscape inspired by the Bella Organic Farm pumpkin patch. You'll take home a finished landscape painting as well as a set of artist's skills that you'll be able to directly apply to future paintings - whether you paint in your bedroom or plein air out in nature. The first ten people to register for the workshop will also get to take home a free small pumpkin!
